"Soft Tissue Laser Applications"

Laser is enables optimal preventive, interceptive, and minimally invasive treatment interventions for both hard and soft tissue procedures in pediatric dentistry. Studies showed that soft tissue laser, such as diode and Nd:YAG lasers were increased success rate of treatment in soft tissue lesions. In this presentation, case reports of the usage of soft tissue laser in pediatric dentistry will be explanied.
Case 1: Lingual frenectomy, Case2: Labial frenectomy, Case3: Gingivectomy , Case4: Primary tooth amputation, Case5: Permanent tooth amputation, Case6: Deep margin elevation after trauma, Case7: Exposure of unerupted teeth.
The benefits of laser usage are the less thermal necrosis, hemostasis can be obtained without the need for sutures, wound healing to occur more rapidly, less post-operative pain, demonstrate decontaminating and bacteriocidal properties on tissues and requiring less prescribing of antibiotics post-operatively. Although soft tissue laser is defined as an acceptable, easy, less time-consuming and comfortable treatment method, there is a need for larger studies and case reports in the use of soft tissue laser in pediatric dentistry.

Pediatric Dentist Gülcan Şahin was born in Çorum in 1982. After successfully graduating from Ege University Faculty of Dentistry with a second degree in 2006, she was entitled to do his doctorate at Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry.
While she has been serving her patients in his own clinic since 2017 after doctoral education, she became the founding partner of "Dent Group Aydın Dental Polyclinic" in 2021. She is also one of the Direkt Academy speakers. She designs pediatric rotary and hand files for Fanta Dental Company. She provides training on "endodontic pediatric file", "technological products in pediatric dentistry" and "soft tissue laser" both at Türkiye and abroad.

"Mindfulness: Let Go of the Past, Live in the Present"

This course offers a unique perspective on mindfulness. Firstly, it focuses on understanding the distinction between thoughts and emotions, and teaches techniques for dealing with rumination. This is crucial for understanding how unnecessary thoughts about the past or future can affect present experiences. Participants discover the value of living in the present moment.
Secondly, it emphasizes the importance of personal values and teaches participants to act in accordance with these values. By setting goals aligned with their values, participants find opportunities to lead more meaningful lives.
Lastly, the course includes practical mindfulness exercises. This section allows participants to translate theoretical knowledge into practice and share their experiences. Given the interactive nature of the course, it is important for participants to come dressed comfortably and take an active role.
This program aims to provide participants with a solid foundation in mindfulness and non-judgmental awareness, offering both cognitive and emotional depth.

Şükrü UĞUZ graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Çukurova University in 1989. He obtained his specialization in Psychiatry and Associate Professorship in the same department. He has mainly conducted research and provided training in the field of psychotherapy. He has authored scientific articles and book chapters published both domestically and internationally.
In 2011, he joined the Department of Psychiatry at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine (Adana). In 2013, he became a Professor and joined the faculty of the Department of Psychology at Çağ University Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Here, he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in psychopathology, industrial psychology, and cognitive psychology.
He works as an educator and supervisor at the Cognitive Behavioral Therapies Association. In addition to his medical practice, he provides psychotherapy training and consultancy in industrial psychology to many prominent companies in Turkey, contributing to their brand recognition.
Currently, he serves as the Head of the Department of Psychology at Çağ University Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

"Basics of Clinical Dental Photography Course "

This course is the first step into photography for dentists. The aim of this course is for students to learn the basic principles of photography, the use of professional and semi-professional cameras, and the procedures for taking intraoral and extraoral photographs in the clinic, as well as the basic digital workflow for archiving and processing these photographs.

In 2007, he completed his undergraduate education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry and in 2013, he completed his doctorate education at Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics. During his doctoral education, he worked as an observer and received training at the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Barcelona. After working as an orthodontic specialist in various Oral and Dental Health Centres affiliated to the Ministry of Health for a short period of time, he worked as a specialist physician at Başkent University Faculty of Dentistry, Orthodontics A.D. and simultaneously at Başkent University Konya Application and Research Centre between 2014-2016. Between 2016 and 2022, he worked as a faculty member and Head of Department at Kırıkkale University, Department of Dentistry. He also carries out research and development studies in the field of digital dentistry as the manager of DentalAG Medical Research and Development Limited Company, which he established with Prof.Dr.Çağrı URAL and Dr.Necati KALELİ in 2018, and together with Çağrı URAL, he is the head of the product design team of PhotoDENTAL®, the dental photography equipment brand created by DentalAG in 2020. In 2019, he was selected by Katip Çelebi-Newton Fund for Leaders in Innovation Fellowship training, received the title of "LIF Fellow" from the UK Royal Academy of Engineering and won the 'Rising Star' award for her work in London. In 2020, his book titled "Basic Photography for Dentists" was published by Quintessence publishing house. Since 2022, he has been working as a faculty member at the University of Health Sciences, Gülhane Faculty of Dentistry, Orthodontics A.D. He is the clinical manager of transparent plate treatments at Gülhane Faculty of Dentistry, University of Health Sciences, and is the founder and manager of the GIA transparent plate brand owned by the faculty. He won the research award given by the Turkish Orthodontic Association in 2023 for his work in the field of clear aligners. He shares his knowledge and experience with his colleagues by organising special courses on advanced transparent plate mechanics and dental photography in our country and internationally. His areas of interest include 3D fabrication, orthognathic surgery and multidisciplinary digital dentistry. He is an active member of Turkish Orthodontic Society and European Orthodontic Society. He graduated from Anadolu University Photography and Videography Department.
